Deliberations:
A Journal of First-Year Writing at Duke University

Dr. Derek Malone-France, Editor

Published volumes - all are in PDF format.

The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Writing publishes Deliberations annually, in the fall semester, and features student-authored texts that are selected from submissions from the previous year’s freshman writing classes. And just as the Writing 20 courses at Duke range across a wide spectrum of topics and disciplinary perspectives, so too do the student writings published in Deliberations. The CTLW also sponsors an annual symposium following the release of the journal, at which the student-authors engage in a panel discussion on writing- and publication-related issues with the editors, faculty members, and other students who are in attendance.
